Job description

Post Title - Teaching Assistant SEN

Hours:16.5 hours per week (8.45am – 4pm daily Th/F plus 12.30 – 3pm Wed)

Contract: Permanent

Closing Date: 9th June

Interview Date: TBC

Start Date: ASAP

Salary:£25,992 - £28,624 per annum pro rata (depending on qualifications and experience)

Actual: £10,523 - £11,046

Our Place School is an independent, specialist setting where the children are genuinely at the heart of all we do. We have 32 students on roll between the ages of 8 and 18, and offer a tailored curriculum built around each individual’s needs, ensuring they meet their aims and aspirations whilst feeling safe and valued within the school community.

This is an exciting time to join us as Our Place continues to grow and develop under new leadership. Our friendly, supportive team are hugely committed to nurturing our students and providing them with the best holistic personal and educational experience.

This isn’t a sit-in-the-classroom-all-day kind of job. Our school is set in extensive grounds, which provides for all manner of outdoor learning and fun. But that’s not the best bit of the school…our amazing and unique children are!

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Has experience in supporting children with additional needs, particularly those with ASD, or a strong willingness to learn and develop in this area.
  • Demonstrates the ability to create a calm, respectful, and productive learning environment tailored to the individual needs of the child.
  • Is committed to supporting the child’s social, emotional, and academic development, ensuring they have the best possible experience throughout their time in school.
  • Has a genuine passion for providing tailored, engaging support to children and is committed to delivering the very best educational outcomes.
  • Builds strong, positive relationships with the child, staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to learning.
  • Actively contributes to the wider life of the school and supports a positive, inclusive school culture.
  • Is resilient, flexible and a strong team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude and sense of fun and creativity.
  • Above all else, champions our children and will nurture and inspire them to be the best they can be.
