Job summary

Hope House School, a charity school dedicated to supporting young people with autism, is looking for a Teaching Assistant. In this role, you'll work closely with teachers to provide tailored learning experiences for our students, fostering a caring and inclusive environment. Qualifications

  • Experience of working with young children in a school environment (2 years).
  • Ability to implement teaching programmes and adjust activities as needed.

Job description

An exciting opportunity to join a small independent SEN school, with ambitions to grow and expand.

Hope House School is a charity thateducates and supports young people of all ageswho have an autism spectrum disorder and associated conditions.

Our aim is to provide a caring and calm environment where everyone feels valued, secure and able to learn.

We are set in open countryside just outside Newark in Nottinghamshire, andhave places for 28pupils on roll.

The school providesa bespoke individualised offer for each young person that fits with their EHCP andneeds.

The Teaching Assistant will work withteachers to support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of the classroom teaching staff and will be responsible for learning activities within the lesson plans.

Teaching and Learning Responsibilities:

  • Work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Work with individual pupils with special educational needs and/or with pupils for whomEnglishis not their first language.
  • Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with teaching staff, adjusting activities to pupils' responses as appropriate.
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with theteaching staff
  • Assist with the development of individual education and development plans for pupils
  • Promote acceptance and inclusion of the pupils
  • Develop and promote positive working relationships with staff, pupils and parents
  • Support pupil behaviour needs in the classroom and on & off site
  • Provide targeted support outside of the classroom
  • Accompany and supervise pupils on out of school trips and visits
  • Support Pupil wellbeing and Personal care

Qualification and Experience:

  • Good basic education to GCSE level 3/4 in literacy and numeracy, or the equivalent
  • Level 3 qualification in Child Development / Education (or Equivalent / working towards)
  • 2 years’ experience of working with young children, in a School environment
