Job description

Location: Wimbledon, South West London Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Full-Time (Monday-Friday) Salary: £89–£105 per day PAYE (Dependent on Experience) Start Date: September 2025 Application Deadline: ASAP Are you looking for a rewarding and dynamic role that allows you to make a real difference in the lives of secondary school students with special educational needs? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you! We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our secondary school team in Wimbledon. This role involves supporting Key Stage 3 and 4 students with a range of high needs, including ASD, behavioural challenges, and learning difficulties. If you're passionate about inclusion and empowering students to succeed in their learning and personal development, we would love to hear from you. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2025. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to Key Stage 3 and 4 students with special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, and behavioural difficulties. Assist in the delivery of tailored lessons, modifying resources and strategies to meet the individual needs of the students. Support students during practical sessions, vocational training, and life skills lessons. Assist students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and independence. Help students engage in weekly swimming lessons, where support in waist-high water may be required. Provide personal care and assist with manual handling as needed. Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student. Be proactive in managing challenging behaviours, creating a safe and positive environment. Essential Requirements: Experience working with secondary-age students with special educational needs (SEN). A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with ASD, behavioural difficulties, and other needs. Enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce) essential. Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit the individual learning styles of students. Experience with manual handling and personal care tasks is desirable but not essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents. A genuine passion for supporting students to achieve their full potential.
