Teaching Assistant - Reception Class

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a passionate and caring Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming reception team in a large, vibrant primary school in Newport.

As our new Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping young children take their first steps into education. Most of the reception pupils will be experiencing a school environment for the very first time, so we are looking for someone who is warm, nurturing, and emotionally attuned to the needs of early learners.

Key qualities we are looking for:

  • A gentle and patient approach with young children
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and families
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm and positive presence in the classroom
  • Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day routines and learning activities
  • Creating a safe and supportive classroom environment
  • Helping children to settle in and develop basic skills in literacy, numeracy, and social interaction
  • Assisting with personal care routines where required
  • Encouraging independence and curiosity through play and exploration
