Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work within a provision unit in a secondary school in Greater Manchester. This is a vital role supporting students with additional needs, behavioural challenges, or SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, requiring patience, understanding, and a wealth of experience.
The role includes:
Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with complex needs
Assisting teaching staff in delivering differentiated learning activities
Supporting behaviour management and helping students develop positive social skills
Liaising with SENCOs, teachers, and other professionals to implement personalised support plans
Preparing learning resources and adapting materials to meet individual needs
Supervising students during breaks, transitions, and other activities to ensure safety and wellbeing
Contributing to record keeping, monitoring progress, and supporting intervention programmes
What we’re looking for:
At least 1 full year of school-based experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role
Experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural difficulties is essential
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff
Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations
Understanding of safeguarding practices and the importance of confidentiality
A flexible, proactive approach and willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
