Job description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Maths & English

Location: Bedford, Tresham, and Dunstable

Contract Type: Permanent - Term Time

Hours: Full-Time & Part-Time (37 hours per week) - Multiple roles available

Salary: From £24,720 per annum (Pro-Rata) depending on experience and qualification

Morgan Hunt is working with a college in the Bedfordshire area to recruit teaching assistants for their Maths & English Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support students' educational, personal, and social development in Maths and English.
  2. Assist in delivering high-quality learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  3. Promote inclusion and engagement of all learners.
  4. Contribute to the development of EHCPs and Personal Support Plans.
  5. Support tutors with classroom preparation, materials, and ICT/audio-visual tools.
  6. Assess and record student progress, providing feedback for planning.
  7. Supervise students during trips or off-site learning as required.
  8. Collaborate with tutors, SENDCo, and support staff to maintain a supportive learning environment.
Person Specification:

Essential:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Understanding of the educational needs of young people.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Confidence using IT and educational tools.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting learners in educational or youth settings.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs or working with students with SEND.
  • Willingness to work towards Level 3 qualifications in Maths and English.
