A thriving secondary school in Manchester is seeking a passionate and committed Teaching Assistant specialising in Literacy Support to help pupils improve their reading and writing skills. You will work under the guidance of the English department and SEN team to deliver targeted support that boosts confidence and academic achievement.
Delivering literacy intervention programmes to individuals and small groups focusing on reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, and writing skills
Supporting pupils with literacy difficulties, including those with SEND or EAL needs
Helping pupils develop exam techniques and strategies for GCSE English Language and Literature
Preparing and adapting teaching materials to suit different ability levels
Monitoring and recording pupil progress and feeding back to teachers and coordinators
Encouraging a positive attitude to reading and writing through creative and engaging activities
Assisting in the organisation of literacy events and initiatives within the school
Experience in literacy support, teaching assistance, or tutoring (formal or voluntary)
Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate pupils
Patience and empathy towards learners with diverse needs
Interest in education and commitment to ongoing professional development
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and independently when required
Familiarity with literacy strategies and curriculum expectations is a plus

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
