Job summary

Grange School in Manchester is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 4 (SEN) with an EYFS specialism to join our dedicated team. This permanent role is 35 hours per week during term time plus 5 INSET days, with a starting salary of £29,448 and full-time equivalent £34,237 (Grade 6).

You will provide SEND support in EYFS, lead targeted groups, and work with teachers and families to help children develop communication, social and academic skills for a successful transition to Key Stage 1.

• Experience supporting children with SEND in early years or primary settings.
• Strong understanding of child development and inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist SEND support for children in the Early Years setting.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND professionals, therapists and parents to implement interventions.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate targeted learning activities and interventions.
• Support development of communication, social, emotional, sensory and physical skills.
• Act as a key person for identified pupils and contribute to EHCPs.
• Lead learning in EYFS and, when needed, contribute to whole-class lessons across the school.
• Maintain records and monitor pupil progress.

About The Role

Grange School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated Teaching Assistant Level 4 with an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) specialism to join our ambitious and forward‑thinking team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about early childhood development and understands the vital importance of building strong foundations for future learning. The successful candidate will play a key role within our EYFS provision, leading targeted groups and delivering high-quality learning experiences that support children to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for lifelong success.

Working closely with leaders and teachers, the successful candidate will help ensure that all children develop the communication, language, personal, social and academic skills necessary for a successful transition into Key Stage 1. A strong understanding of school readiness and the importance of high expectations from the earliest stages of education is essential.

In addition to leading learning within EYFS, there will be opportunities and expectations for the successful candidate to lead whole‑class learning across the school when required, delivering engaging and purposeful lessons that promote excellent outcomes for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Provide specialist support for children with SEND within the Early Years setting.
• Work closely with teachers, SEND professionals, therapists, and parents to ensure children receive appropriate interventions and support.
• Plan, deliver, and evaluate targeted learning activities and interventions.
• Support the development of communication, social, emotional, sensory, and physical skills.
• Act as a key person for identified pupils, contributing to assessments, reviews, and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Promote children's independence, confidence, and wellbeing.
• Create positive, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences that meet individual needs.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress monitoring.

We're Looking For Applicants Who

• Holds a relevant Level 4 qualification or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Early Years, SEND, or a related field.
• Has experience working with children with SEND in an Early Years or primary setting.
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of child development and inclusive practice.
• Has experience supporting pupils with communication needs, autism, sensory needs, or complex learning difficulties.
• Can build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Is patient, resilient, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child.
• Has excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
• Is able to work independently and use initiative when required.

Grange School
