Teaching Assistant Level 3 (ASD and SEMH) - Birchwood High School
The role

Birchwood Community High School is a thriving school at the heart of community life and continues to grow and flourish. We have a vacancy to join our Designated Provision for children with ASD and SEMH which is opened in September 2024. This role is a fixed term contract until 31 August 2026 in the first instance, working 31.25 hours per week, term time only, plus 5 Inset days.

The person appointed will:-

  • Ideally have experience of working with children in an educational setting and it would be desirable to have some experience of working with children with special educational needs/ASD/SEMH. However, for the right candidate we would be prepared to appoint someone who has not worked in an educational setting.
  • Have experience of or be willing to implement interventions and strategies to overcome barriers to learning in order to speed up academic progress
  • Support children who can display challenging behaviour
  • Be a team player with a good sense of humour
  • Have a sensitive but enthusiastic approach
  • Be willing to undertake first aid training and Team Teach training
