About the role:
We are currently seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our Maths and English department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in our students' success through:
- Student Support & Inclusion: Assist with students’ educational, personal, and social needs, promoting inclusion and supporting those with special educational needs both in and out of the classroom.
- Tutor & Classroom Assistance: Support tutors by preparing materials, contributing to lesson planning, maintaining discipline, and covering classes when needed, including helping with EHCPs and support plans.
- Curriculum & Learning Support: Aid in delivering English, maths, and other curriculum areas, helping assess student progress and using results to inform further support.
- Operational & Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with staff, contribute to the smooth running of the college, and provide cover for absent colleagues as directed by management.
- Professional Conduct & Development: Maintain confidentiality, attend meetings and training, uphold college policies, and continuously develop skills to support the college’s mission and values.
About you:
- Qualifications & IT Skills: GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths required, with a willingness to work towards Level 3. Ability to use IT effectively in a classroom setting.
- Educational Understanding & Planning: Strong understanding of the educational needs of children and young people, with the ability to plan and develop engaging educational activities.
- Teamwork & Independence: Able to work collaboratively with others and independently without constant supervision, showing initiative and reliability.
- Commitment & Flexibility: Demonstrates a flexible approach to work and a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, including meeting students’ physical needs.
- Safeguarding & Compliance: Role requires an enhanced DBS check and a clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting student welfare.
