Sutton upon Derwent Church of England Primary School is a loving school family. We are federated with Bugthorpe Church of England Primary School and have staff that work across both sites. We share our Executive Headteacher, SENCo, Business Manager, ELSA, and Environmental Tutor (Gardening and Forest Schools Teacher). We work together as one to deliver a creative curriculum that inspires our pupils to 'follow their pathways and grow with confidence'.
Both schools received a 'Good' Ofsted Inspection in 2022. Sutton upon Derwent received a very positive SIAMS inspection report in February 2025. Both documents are available to read on our school website.
Our Federation: follow a shared curriculum, have staff meetings together on Microsoft Teams to share planning, resources, and best practices, work in Subject Leadership Teams across the Federation, share a school minibus for educational visits and class visits, and share policies and procedures. This collaborative work enables both pupils and adults to flourish in our small rural schools.
