Job summary

Christ Church Primary School in Burton upon Trent is seeking a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support KS2 pupils. The role involves helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive academically and personally, under teacher guidance.

You will deliver structured pupil support, contribute to reading sessions, assist with planning and assessment, and provide pastoral care. The post is 32.5 hours per week, term-time only, with a Grade 4 salary.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • Understanding of primary curriculum and ability to adapt support.
  • Strong teamwork and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support learning in the classroom under teacher guidance.
  • Deliver structured pupil support including guided reading sessions.
  • Assist with planning, assessment and recording pupil progress.
  • Provide pastoral support and assist with wellbeing and personal needs.
  • Accompany pupils on visits and assist with extracurricular activities.
  • Use ICT to support learning and develop pupils' confidence with technology.
  • Encourage resilience, independence and positive behaviour.

About the Role

As a Level 3 TeachingAssistant, you will be a vital part of our team, helping children overcomebarriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally. Your rolewill include:

  • Working under the guidance of teachers to support learning in theclassroom and, when needed, supervise classes for short-term, pre-plannedcover.
  • Delivering structured support for pupils, including contributingto Individual Education, Behaviour and Support plans and guided readingsessions.
  • Supporting teachers with planning, assessment and accuraterecording of pupil progress.
  • Providing pastoral support; assist with pupils’ personal needs,first aid and wellbeing practises.
  • Accompanying pupils on visits and extracurricular activities andhelp run out-of-class provision (breaks, lunchtimes) as required.
  • Using ICT to support learning and help develop pupils’ confidencewith technology.
  • Encouraging resilience, independence, and confidence in our pupils
  • Contributing to the school’s high standards of behaviour andachievement

This is a hands-on role where you will have direct impact onpupils’ learning and wellbeing every day, offering a meaningful chance todirectly impact children’s lives and be part of a caring, forward-thinkingschool community.

About You

We are looking for someonewho:

  • Has a genuine passion for working with young children andsupporting their learning journeys
  • Is patient, caring, and enthusiastic, with a positive andproactive attitude
  • Holds a Level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in supportingteaching and learning
  • Has experience working with children with additional needs,including communication challenges
  • Understands the primary curriculum and can adapt support to meetdiverse pupil needs
  • Works well as part of a team and values collaboration
  • Has excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Holds high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
