Desian Education are partnering with a supportive two-form entry primary school in Widnes, seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join the KS1 team. You will support Year 2 pupils in class and through targeted interventions, with a focus on English, Maths and Read Write Inc. phonics sessions.

The role requires an experienced TA with KS1 knowledge, capable of delivering high-quality phonics and building pupils’ confidence across reading and writing.

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant with strong KS1 delivery.

Teaching Assistant - KS1 Interventions & Phonics

Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a supportive two-form entry primary school in Widnes, who are looking to appoint a highly experienced and Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant to join their KS1 team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who has a strong understanding of KS1 curriculum delivery, phonics and targeted intervention work, and who is confident supporting pupils of mixed abilities.

Your new role:

The successful Teaching Assistant will work across the Year 2 cohort, supporting pupils both within the classroom and through targeted intervention sessions.

A key part of the role will be leading core subject interventions for mixed and lower-ability pupils, helping to close gaps in learning and build confidence across English and Maths.

You will also take responsibility for delivering Read Write Inc. (RWI) phonics sessions, supporting pupils to develop their phonological awareness, reading fluency and confidence.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Working across both Year 2 classes to provide targeted support.
• Leading English and Maths interventions for mixed and lower-ability pupils.
• Delivering targeted RWI phonics sessions.
• Supporting pupils to develop their reading, writing and mathematical skills.
• Identifying gaps in learning and adapting support accordingly.
• Working closely with class teachers to plan and deliver effective interventions.
• Providing additional classroom support where required.
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Encouraging confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
