Career Teachers is recruiting for a passionate and qualified Teaching Assistant to work in a SEND Primary School in the Wakefield Education Authority. The successful applicant can work on a full-time or part-time basis.

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEND Specific Primary School in Wakefield. You will play a crucial role in supporting students with ASC, ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, Physical disabilities and learning difficulties, helping them to thrive in their educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist with the personal needs of pupils including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
  • To assist with the supervision of pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning
  • Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to support student development
  • Monitor and document student progress and behaviour
  • Encourage social interaction and positive behaviour among students

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with a wide range of special needs
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education are desirable
