Are you looking to build a meaningful career supporting children and young people with autism?
We re recruiting ASD Teaching Assistants for a well-established specialist school in reading that supports students with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role offers hands-on experience in a nurturing, structured environment where staff work closely together to meet the individual needs of each learner.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group classroom support for students with ASD
Help implement structured routines, including visual timetables and behaviour plans
Support communication through systems like PECS, visual aids, and ABA-based approaches
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and SEN professionals
Assist with sensory needs, emotional regulation, and building student independence
Promote a calm, supportive atmosphere throughout the school day
What We re Looking For:
Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs
Confident supporting students with autism, communication needs, or sensory processing differences
Patient, consistent, and reliable someone who builds trust with pupils over time
Understanding of autism-friendly strategies (PECS, Makaton, ABA, etc. training provided)
A DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
