SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant - Autism

Location: Leicester City

Type: Full-time Contract

Duration: Temporary to Permanent

Start Date: June 2025

Do you have experience working with students with Autism?

Career Teachers has partnered with an SEND School in Leicester to recruit a motivated and experienced SEN teaching assistant. The role involves working 1:1 with students and begins as soon as possible.

This well-resourced school supports students with complex needs and fosters an excellent staff culture where everyone feels valued. Your responsibilities will include:

• Acting as a positive role model and managing behaviour
• Ensuring a safe, child-centred learning environment
• Promoting inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
• Understanding and assisting with IEPs & Behaviour Support Plans under the guidance of the teacher
• Supporting lesson planning, monitoring, and delivery of creative lessons

Key skills and experience needed:

• Essential SEN experience, preferably with students with Autism
• Previous support work in a school or related child-focused role
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Professional manner
• Enthusiastic, positive, and friendly approach
• Team Teach training (not necessary but advantageous)
