Overview

Full-time Teaching Assistant required during term time only, with two days dedicated to supporting literacy interventions under the guidance of the specialist literacy/numeracy teacher, and taking responsibility for the management and day-to-day running of the school library.

Hours and Pay

30.25 hours per week, spread over 5 days: 8.50am-3.20pm Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri; 8.35am-3.20pm Wed. Plus an additional 2 hours 15 minutes after school for intervention work/library duties. Days to carry this out to be mutually agreed. Pay scale WA4-10 to WA4-16. (FTE £24,133 to £27,663 pa; Actual £18,740 to £21,481 pa).

About the School

We are a special school for secondary pupils in Years 7 to 11 with learning and additional needs. The Abbey School converted to Academy status on 1st September 2018 and is proud to be part of the Weydon Multi Academy Trust (WMAT). We have been graded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2009, 2012, 2016, 2022, and again in June 2024.

Responsibilities
  • Support three days per week with whole-class learning, small group work, and one-to-one support under the direction of a class teacher.
  • Two days per week dedicated to supporting literacy interventions under the guidance of the specialist literacy teacher.
  • Take responsibility for the management and day-to-day running of the school library.
  • Carry out after-school intervention duties for 2 hours 15 minutes per week (times to be agreed).
