Location: St Austell, Cornwall
Contract: Temporary-to-Permanent
Hours: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Monday to Friday)
Start Date: Immediate or September 2025

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Are you an experienced teaching assistant looking for a rewarding role in a specialist setting? We're seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN complex needs school in the St Austell area.

About the Role

This is a full-time, term-time only position in a specialist school catering to pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including ASD, communication difficulties, and sensory and physical impairments.

The role begins on a temporary basis, with a clear pathway to permanent employment for the right candidates. This structure offers you the opportunity to fully integrate into the school community, gain valuable experience, and ensure the role is the perfect fit for both you and the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with complex special educational needs in a 1:1 or small group setting
  • Assisting with personal care, communication aids, and physical or sensory needs where required
  • Collaborating closely with class teachers and SEN professionals to implement individual learning plans
  • Helping create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment tailored to each child's needs
  • Promoting emotional well-being, social development, and independence
  • Managing and responding calmly to challenging behaviours with appropriate strategies
