Teaching Assistant for Trauma Impacted Looked After Children

Are you passionate and driven to improve the lives and prospects of children who have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACE)?

Do you have experience supporting pupils with Social Emotional Mental Health needs? Are you confident working with Looked After Children (LAC) and those in the care system? Have you worked in a residential support worker role?

The Role:

Working in a school for Looked After Children who have experienced childhood trauma or ACE, your role will be classroom support. You will help children thrive in an educational setting by supporting them with a therapeutic approach to behaviour management, teaching, and learning. The school caters to children from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4 and offers a full curriculum. Your pastoral support will help children engage with education while maintaining emotional regulation and mental health.

You’ll Be:

  • A Qualified Teaching Assistant or Residential Support Worker experienced with young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or other needs.
  • Experienced working with pupils with challenging behaviour and trauma.
  • Skilled in holding student attention with excellent communication skills.
  • Committed to promoting happiness, self-reliance, and positive interactions.
