Job description

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract until 28th June 2027 or the return of the substantive post holder.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting children across a range of year groups, including those with SEND, helping all of our pupils to learn, build confidence and thrive within our school community.

The successful candidate will provide support to pupils, ensuring safety, wellbeing and engagement in learning for all. The role will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to provide high-quality, individualised support where necessary.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about inclusion, committed to helping every child achieve their full potential, and able to build positive, trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues. Experience of supporting pupils with SEND, EHCPs and an awareness of safeguarding would be highly desirable, although is not essential.

About Us

Falmouth Primary Academy is a thriving school for children aged 4-11, located in the heart of Falmouth, just moments from its world-famous harbour. Inspired by our mission, \"Learning Through a Voyage of Discovery\", we provide an engaging and nurturing education that reflects our unique maritime setting while helping every child flourish and reach their full potential.

Our broad and ambitious curriculum is built on strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, enriched by a wide range of subjects and extracurricular opportunities that prepare pupils for future success.

We are committed to creating an inclusive, supportive and aspirational environment where every child feels valued and inspired to achieve. We are looking for a colleague who share these values and is passionate about making a difference. By joining our dedicated and collaborative team, you will play a key role in helping every pupil thrive and succeed.

As part of our school community, you will join a dedicated team that works collaboratively, supports one another and is committed to achieving the very best outcomes for all pupils.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience of working with children, ideally within a school environment.

  • Is passionate about supporting children with SEND and additional needs.

  • Can provide calm, consistent and nurturing support to vulnerable pupils.

  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Is flexible, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • Shares our ambition for every child to feel safe, included and inspired.

We Offer

  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

  • Access to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme providing health and wellbeing advice, support and guidance.

  • A wide range of CPD and professional development opportunities, both internal and external.

  • Access to specialist expertise, networks and support across Kernow Learning.

  • An opportunity to grow your career with us, whatever your role, experience or background.
