Job summary

Bitterne Park School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support teachers and students in a welcoming, inclusive environment. You will help prepare materials, work with individuals or small groups, and foster a positive learning atmosphere to help every student progress.

The role is part-time (30 hours per week, term-time only) with maternity cover and the school values teamwork, safeguarding, and the welfare of children. Training and safeguarding procedures are in place.

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for supporting students in their educational journey.
• Strong communication skills with ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
• Patience, empathy and understanding when working with children.
• Experience or qualifications in education or childcare is an advantage but not strictly required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and preparing materials.
• Provide individual or small group support to students to facilitate learning.
• Encourage and motivate students to engage with the curriculum and develop skills.
• Support students with diverse needs, adapting resources as required.
• Maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment and promote positive behaviour.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure effective delivery of educational programmes.
