Job Description:

Academics are seeking Teaching Assistants with experience supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) for a full-time, term-time contract to start ASAP. This is a possible temp-to-perm position.

The school is based in New Milton and caters to pupils aged 7-16 who find mainstream school challenging. It was rated 'Good' by Ofsted in 2019, with inspectors noting that students make strong progress and often successfully return to mainstream schools. Many pupils achieve significant improvements in a short period, thanks to a culture and curriculum designed to foster social and emotional development.

The school emphasizes recognizing and overcoming barriers to education. Using detailed assessments, targeted work, coaching, and self-reflection, they help students manage emotions while maintaining academic progress. Issues addressed include social skills, self-awareness, motivation, self-regulation, and empathy.

You will work on a 1:1 basis and in classes across the school as needed. Experience supporting children with SEMH is essential.
