Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with Autism and Social Emotional and Mental Health needs?
We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a specialist school for pupils aged 7 to 19 with Autism and/or Social Emotional and Mental Health needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students to support their academic, social, and emotional development, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the class teacher in delivering personalised learning programs tailored to individual needs.
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
Support students with their social and emotional development, using effective strategies to manage behaviour and promote positive interactions.
Foster a calm and supportive atmosphere, ensuring students feel safe and understood.
Help students develop essential life skills, communication, and independence.
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and external agencies.
Contribute to the development and review of Individual Education Plans and monitor student progress.
Provide pastoral care and ensure the well being of students at all times.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is:
Experienced in working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with ASD and/or SEMH.
Patient, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships with students.
Flexible, proactive, and willing to adapt to the varying needs of students.
Strong behaviour management skills
Committed to supporting the academic and emotional development of students.
Ideally, you will have a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, though experience is just as valuable.
