SEN Teaching Assistant (KS2KS3)

Location: Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Salary: per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Long Term, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2025

About the role:

Horizon Teachers are looking for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups across KS2KS3. You'll help children with ASC and Complex needs thrive in the classroom and beyond.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide general classroom support across KS2 and KS3, assisting with pupil engagement to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Provide focused 1:1 and small group support to deliver targeted intervention.
  • Support the class teacher in planning, preparation, and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Support pupils with SEND and additional needs.
  • Assist in creating a positive, inclusive, and safe environment.

What do you need to succeed in this role?

  • Previous experience in a school or SEN setting (essential).
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
  • A solid understanding of SEND conditions and how they affect learning and behaviour.
  • Confidence in supporting pupils with communication difficulties and/or physical needs.
  • A collaborative and empathetic approach, with excellent communication skills.
