About the Role – ALN Teaching Assistant

As an ALN Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored in-class support to pupils with ALN under the guidance of the ALNCo and instruction of teachers.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ALN, including neurodiverse learners and those with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Assist with individual development plans (IDPs) in collaboration with teachers, the ALNCo, and support services
  • Use inclusive teaching strategies to support learners with sensory processing differences and communication needs
  • Help create a safe, supportive classroom where all students can thrive and achieve
  • Promote independence, engagement, and confidence in learning

Candidate Profile – What We’re Looking For:

Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant or looking to start a career in education, we’re keen to hear from you. Ideal candidates will be:

  • Passionate about supporting students with additional learning needs
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient when managing challenging behaviour
  • Great at building relationships with young people and colleagues
  • Flexible and creative in adapting tasks and environments
  • Interested in or knowledgeable about Autism, ADHD, trauma-informed practice, and inclusive education

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a school, SEN, or youth work environment
  • Familiarity with the ALN Code for Wales or SEN frameworks
  • Use of visual aids, communication tools, or behavioural support plans
  • Start Date: September 2025 (permanent role subject to trial)
  • Role Type: Term-time only, with full-time and part-time options
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
