A Primary school based in Enfield is thrilled to announce the opening of our brand-new Autism Unit and is seeking a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to join us on this exciting venture.

Position: Teaching Assistant - Autism Unit in Primary school

Location: Enfield Borough, London

Number of Children: 8

Contract Type: Full-time Temporary

Contract Duration: Immediate Start until July 2026

Working Hours: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm (Term Time Only)

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individualized support and guidance to students within the Autism Unit.
  2. Collaborate with the class teacher and therapists to implement personalized learning programs.
  3. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where every child feels valued and supported.
  4. Assist students in developing social, communication, and behavioural skills.
  5. Work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development.
  6. Contribute to a collaborative team environment and participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with children with autism is highly desirable.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching and Learning Support or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with autism.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
