Job description

We have a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant to join our team at Dorset Studio School.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SENDCo and team to assist in the classroom. Responsibilities include supporting pupils with diverse needs, primarily on a one-to-one or small group basis. You will help promote students' academic, social, and emotional development through tailored programmes and a supportive learning environment, enabling pupils to reach their full potential.

This is a Term Time Only role, working 39 weeks a year. Pay award is pending.

We seek a committed, enthusiastic, conscientious, and caring individual who can work collaboratively within a team and independently using initiative.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver basic reading and maths interventions to improve pupils' literacy and numeracy skills.
  2. Assist the SENCO and SEN department in meeting the outcomes outlined in pupils' EHC plans.
  3. Support teaching and learning processes.
  4. Help develop, monitor, and evaluate programmes of work.
  5. Assist in preparing, organizing, and maintaining pupils' work and equipment, including creating visual aids and displaying pupils' work.
  6. Liaise with parents and external agencies to support pupils' needs.
  7. Provide care and supervision during lessons and break times.
  8. Assist in developing Provision Maps for pupils with special educational needs under the guidance of the SEN team and teaching staff.
