Overview of role:
Assist in supporting individual pupils and small groups under the direction of the class teacher, deliver targeted class support and interventions, and participate in relevant TA meetings and training sessions.
Key details:
- Hours: Monday to Friday (8.45am to 3.15pm), 30 hours per week
- Term time only (39 weeks per year)
- Wage: £7.55 per hour
- Location: Loddon Bridge Road, Woodley, Reading, Berkshire RG5 4BS
Apprenticeship details:
- Qualification: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
- Duration of course: 16 months
- Training Provider: LMP Education (Rated No 1 Training Provider in the UK!)
- All learning delivered online/remotely alongside placement at school.
Full Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support learning for individual pupils and small groups under the guidance of the classroom teacher and Inclusion team.
- Assist with implementing lesson plans and facilitating more ambitious learning activities.
- Deliver class support and targeted interventions.
- Undertake agreed activities and strategies for individual pupils and small groups.
- Collaborate with the teacher on individual and group programmes of work, aligning with pupil targets and devising strategies to meet them.
- Assist in liaising with other professionals, maintaining confidentiality.
- Contribute to pupil observation record keeping and assessment.
- Monitor, record, and analyze pupil data (e.g., worksheets) at the teacher's request.
- Organize and collate pupil reports as required.
- Attend TA/staff meetings, planning sessions, and training where applicable.
- Support school events and special occasions in the school’s annual calendar (if applicable).
- Assist with classroom administrative tasks (e.g., photocopying).
- Support pupils on educational trips (if applicable) and provide First Aid and/or playground supervision during lunch or breaks (if required).
Skills & Personal Qualities:
- Strong questioning and observation skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Clear understanding of assisting and supervising pupils during specific tasks
- Capable of managing classroom housekeeping and supervising pupils during cleanup activities
Qualifications Requirements:
- GCSE or equivalent (Functional Skills) English (Grade 4) essential
- GCSE or equivalent (Functional Skills) Maths (Grade 4) essential
