Job description

The Duke of York's Royal Military School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO to support the development and implementation of the Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision across the School, ensuring that all students with SEN achieve their full potential. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute fully to our boarding provision, as a Tutor, including: a weeknight duty, 12 weekend duties and a Saturday morning tutor group session.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students’ learning and development, including those with behavioural, organisational, or SEN needs.
  • Promote inclusion, independence, and participation, providing feedback and encouraging self-reliance.
  • Assist in the delivery of planned activities and support the differentiated implementation of the curriculum.
  • Work with the SENCO to identify, assess, and support students with SEN, contributing to IEPs and monitoring progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and review interventions to ensure students achieve their potential.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic student support and share best practice.
  • Serve as a Boarding Tutor, overseeing the welfare, academic progress, and personal development of a tutor group.
  • Contribute to boarding life, including weekday duties, weekend supervision, prep monitoring, and support for house activities and pastoral meetings.
