About the Role:
We are recruiting Teaching Assistants to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Garston (L19) that supports young people aged 14 to 24. This setting provides tailored education and guidance for students who benefit from learning outside of a mainstream environment, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
The provision offers a study programme for 14-16-year-olds and a youth hub for ages 16-24, focused on employment readiness, training, and re-engagement in education. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference in young lives, especially for those facing barriers to education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support across vocational and academic sessions
- Support learners with emotional regulation, life skills, and engagement in learning
- Collaborate with teachers, trainers, and support staff to deliver personalised education plans
- Promote independence and employability skills through structured guidance and mentoring
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 months classroom experience in the UK
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, NEET backgrounds, or EHCPs is desirable
- Strong communication skills and a calm, encouraging presence
- Passionate about inclusion, re-engagement, and positive outcomes for young people
Eligibility:
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced Child Barred List DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
- Two professional references related to childcare, education, or youth support
- Available to work full-time from September 1st
