Job summary

St George's School Windsor Castle is seeking a patient Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for an EYFS child with emerging needs, for 4.5 hours per day on-site. The role focuses on safety, communication development, sensory regulation, and enabling access to learning through play-based approaches.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor progress, support social interactions, and promote independence in a nurturing school environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide calm, 1:1 support during school hours.
• Support communication development using strategies from the class team and Speech and Language professionals.
• Assist sensory and emotional regulation through tailoring Occupational Therapy activities.
• Help the child access learning through play-based, practical and sensory-informed approaches.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to share observations and support progress.
• Support the child in the swimming pool and outdoor learning activities.
• Maintain professional boundaries while encouraging independence and positive peer interactions.

Job description

Teaching Assistant 1:1 Support (4.5 hours per day - EYFS) We are looking for a patient, nurturing 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support the physical needs of a child in Early Years with emerging additional needs, including social communication differences and sensory processing needs. The role is to help the child feel safe, understood, and able to access learning through consistent, child-centred support. Key Duties:

• Provide calm, consistent 1:1 support during the child's school hours
• Support the child's communication development using strategies provided by the class team and Speech and Language professionals
• Support the child's sensory and emotional regulation through the implementation of a tailored Occupational Therapy programme
• Help the child to access learning through play-based, practical and sensory-informed approaches
• Be aspirational and maintain high expectations, whilst also being adaptive and responsive to the child's needs in the moment
• Use visual supports, routines, and sensory strategies to support regulation and transitions
• Follow agreed strategies carefully to ensure a consistent approach
• Take a curious, reflective approach to behaviour, seeking to understand the child's needs and remove barriers to learning
• Support the child in the swimming pool
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive interactions with peers
• Support the child's love of outdoor learning and ensure opportunities for movement and outdoor engagement
• Respond warmly to the child's affectionate nature while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to share observations and support progress
• Work effectively within a team of Early Years professionals

Renumeration: St George’s has its own salary scale. Lunch is provided during school terms and parking is normally available on site. The school operates a defined contribution pension scheme.
