Job summary

A leading educational recruitment agency seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work in SEND schools across Yorkshire. Teaching Assistant – SEND Schools, North Yorkshire
Pay: £90–£95 per day
Hours: Full-time

Axcis Education is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Teaching Assistants to work in a range of SEND schools across Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience supporting children or young people in an educational, care, or similar setting (essential)
  • Experience working with learners with SEND, especially SEMH (essential)
  • A child-enhanced DBS on the Update Service—or willingness to apply through Axcis
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting learning
  • A genuine passion for helping young people thrive academically, socially, and emotionally
Your Role Will Involve:
  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities and lesson delivery
  • Providing targeted 1:1 or small group support where needed
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation
  • Promoting pupils’ wellbeing and development both in and out of the classroom
  • Working closely with school staff, external professionals, and agency colleagues
Experience Desired:
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND (professional or personal experience considered)
  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting SEMH needs
  • Experience across different age groups is an advantage
