Job summary

Oasis Academy Connaught in England is seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to support teaching, learning and inclusion across the academy. The role involves helping students reach their potential in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Under teachers' guidance, you will assist in small groups and individual sessions, adapt resources, monitor progress and support pupils with SEND, safeguarding, and personal development.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above or equivalent Level 2 qualification.
• Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting.
• Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and SEND practice.
• Good IT skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work in a team.
• Commitment to supporting children's learning, wellbeing and achievement.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in monitoring and recording pupil progress.

• Supervise pupils during lessons, breaks and visits, and assist with activities.

Post: Teaching Assistant

Location: Oasis Academy Connaught

Salary: OCL Scale 4-8 (£25,185 - £26,824 FTE) | Actual Salary £19,613 - £20,890

Working Pattern: Monday 8:20am - 4:20pm, Tuesday to Friday 8:20am - 3:20pm

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract: Term Time (salary pro rata)

Closing Date: 30/10/2026

Interview Date: TBC

DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS with Barred List Check

About the Role

• Support pupils with SEND, including contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Promote students' social, emotional and personal development.

• Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning environments.
• Supervise pupils during lessons, breaktimes, educational visits and other activities.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers and external professionals.
• Support examination invigilation and academy activities as required.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Has:

Essential

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent Level 2 qualifications.
• Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting.
• Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and SEND practice.
• Good IT skills.

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A commitment to supporting children's learning, wellbeing and achievement.

Desirable

• A First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
