Job summary

Niche Education Ltd is seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to work across Middlesbrough and surrounding areas. You will support pupils in classrooms and work with students who have SEND, helping them access learning and participate in activities.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable, able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families while maintaining high standards of safeguarding and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Qualified teaching assistant or transferable skills for supporting pupils.
• Experience with children or SEND is desirable.
• Ability to engage pupils and enforce positive behaviour.
• Resilience and calmness under pressure; adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Support students in classrooms and activities across Middlesbrough and surrounding areas.
• Assist with planning and implementing learning activities and strategies.
• Build strong, respectful rapport with pupils, including those with SEND.
• Contribute to safeguarding and professional conduct in schools.

Job description

Niche Education Ltd are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Middlesbrough and surrounding areas.

A successful candidate will have worked as a teaching assistant in a school before or have relevant experience in either healthcare or another sector which they can transfer over to an education setting.

The school are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic, and resourceful individuals to join a dedicated and hardworking team of specialised support staff. They are looking for people who will enjoy being effective in supporting students, including those with complex needs, and who have an appreciation of the positive attitude required to encourage independence in their students.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be a qualified teaching assistant or have the transferable skills needed
• Have worked with children or young adults before, possibly including those with SEND
• Be able to engage with children or young adults and enforce positive behaviour
• Be able to challenge children or young adults when they display negative behaviour
• Be able to build a strong, respectful rapport with children or young adults, including those with SEND
• Be resilient and able to remain calm under stressful situations
• Have exceptionally good communication skills
• Be responsive, flexible, and sensitive to the differing needs of pupils
