Position: Full-Time, 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Pay Rate: £13.86 per hour

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 teaching assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Andover supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). The school caters to a diverse range of special educational needs, and a primary understanding of SEMH and some other learning difficulties is essential. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting a child with special educational needs, helping them to thrive and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and enriching environment. Experience of working with children and young people with special needs would be advantageous but not essential! Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with special educational needs.
  • Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Support with personal care and communication needs where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other staff members to monitor progress and adapt strategies.
  • Help develop and implement individualized learning plans for the child.
  • Support the child’s social and emotional development, encouraging positive behaviour.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children, ideally with special educational needs (SEN) or adults with additional needs. (Not essential)
  • Holds a passion for helping children reach their potential, regardless of their challenges.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a calm, nurturing approach.
  • Is able to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • Holds a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
