Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant in Stamford and surrounding areas. You will support pupils across Early Years to Key Stage 2, assisting teachers with resources, literacy and numeracy activities, and promoting a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide support to class teachers in preparing resources and activities.
• Work 1:1 or in small groups to reinforce literacy, numeracy, and core skills.
• Help children build confidence, focus and social skills.
• Support pupils with SEND by tailoring activities.
• Assist with classroom management and behavior in line with policy.
• Supervise during breaks, lunchtimes and trips as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work 1:1 or with small groups of pupils to reinforce literacy, numeracy, and core curriculum tasks.
• Help children build confidence, focus, and social skills, offering gentle guidance and encouragement.
• Assist pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by tailoring learning activities to suit their individual learning styles.
• Support classroom management and encourage positive behaviour in line with school policies.
• Assist with supervision during break times, lunchtimes, and school trips as needed.

What We Look For:

• Previous experience supporting children in an educational, childcare, nursery, or community setting.
• A warm, patient, and encouraging approach with strong communication skills.
• Good standards of literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths preferred).
• An adaptable, proactive attitude with the ability to step into different primary classrooms with confidence.
• A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
