Job Advert: Teaching Assistant - Permanent Role

Location: Ware, Hertfordshire

Are you passionate about supporting young learners with special educational needs? Do you have the drive and compassion to make a real difference in the lives of children with severe learning difficulties? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are working closely with a dedicated and inclusive school that caters to pupils aged 2 to 19 years with a range of severe learning difficulties, including both singular and multiple challenges. We are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team on a permanent basis.

About the Role: As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the learning and development of our pupils under the guidance of the Class Teacher. The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive and experienced team, assisting with various activities throughout the school. This will include supporting classroom activities, providing one-on-one or small group support, and assisting with personal care needs where required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of the curriculum, tailoring support to individual pupil needs.
• Work collaboratively with the Class Teacher and other professionals in the school.
• Assist with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and dressing.
• Participate in swimming activities with pupils at least once a week.
• Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and engaging learning environment.
• Attend and support after-school club once a week from 3.30pm to 5.15pm.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with severe learning difficulties.
• Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, are desirable but not essential.
• A compassionate and patient approach, with a strong desire to support the development of children with complex needs.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from the Class Teacher.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life, including swimming sessions.

Working Hours:

• 34 hours per week
• Monday to Friday, term time only (43.6 weeks per year)
• 8.45am to 3.45pm (including a 30-minute lunch break)
• One after-school club per week (3.30pm to 5.15pm)

Salary:

• 19,000 - 19,500 per annum actual salary (depending on experience and qualifications)
