Job summary

Connect2Dorset is seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a 14-year-old student with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan. You will help the pupil access learning alongside peers in a 30-hour, term-time role based at Lytchett Minster School.

The post starts ASAP on a fixed term to July 2027. You will join a friendly Student Support Centre team and contribute to a positive school community, while adhering to safeguarding and policy expectations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs A-C (9-4), including Maths and English, or equivalent.
  • Know and apply consistently a range of school policies, particularly health and safety, equal opportunities, behaviour management, child protection and SEN.
  • Have the necessary skills to manage safely the classroom activities, the physical learning space and the resources.
  • Understand and use a range of strategies to address a pupil's individual special educational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support a 14-year-old girl with an EHC plan to access learning alongside peers.
  • Work 1:1 and with peers to facilitate learning and participation.
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Centre and wider team to sustain positive learning environments.
  • Uphold safeguarding and promote the welfare of children and young people.

Pay: Up to 13.26 per hour

Description

Job - 1:1 Teaching Assistant, to support a 14 year old girl with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan to access learning alongside her peers.

Start date - ASAP (subject to pre-start checks)

Contract term - Fixed term until July 2027

Working hours - 30 hours per week - Monday to Friday 8.35am-3.15pm

Weeks per year - School term-time

Grade - Grade 5

Salary range - (per annum)

Support staff pay scale points 5 - 25,583 (FTE), 18,587 (pro rata)

Location - Lytchett Minster School

Reports to - Headteacher/SENDCo

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has a talent for engaging students with learning, and you will be required to work flexibly across all subject areas. There will be opportunities to develop within the team and make a valued contribution to this young persons' learning. The successful candidate will be required to support them to access all learning activities. The working hours for this post are 8.35am - 3.15pm, Monday to Friday, on a fixed term contract to start as soon as possible.

Set in a semi-rural location with an 18th Century family Manor House at its heart, Lytchett has one of the most beautiful and inspirational learning environments in the county with stunning extensive grounds and a number of modern extensions. The school is massively over-subscribed and highly regarded in the community. Parents know that Lytchett looks after its students, providing them with outstanding pastoral care and high-quality teaching. The school has a successful, thriving sixth form with over 340 students.

Lytchett has not joined a multi-academy trust, and has no intention of doing so, because it values its independence as a secondary school which serves its local community and produces outstanding outcomes for its students.

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.
