Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students across KS3/4 in a Bournemouth-based school. You will work closely with teaching staff to promote engagement, progression and positive behaviour while building strong relationships with students and colleagues.

The role requires resilience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to identify and address barriers to learning, supporting academic, social and emotional development in a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people (ideally in a secondary setting)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Resilient, adaptable and able to stay calm in challenging situations
• Proactive approach and initiative when supporting students and staff
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people

Responsibilities

• Support students across KS3/4 in class and through targeted interventions
• Collaborate with teaching staff to promote engagement and progress

Job description

• Support students across KS3/4, both within the classroom and through targeted interventions.
• Work closely with teaching staff to promote engagement, progress, and positive behaviour.

• Demonstrate resilience when working with students who may present challenging behaviour or additional learning needs.
• Take a proactive approach to identifying barriers to learning and implementing strategies to overcome them.
• Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
• Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
• A resilient and adaptable approach, with the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• A proactive attitude and the confidence to use their initiative when supporting students and staff.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with students from a variety of backgrounds.
