Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Daily Supply
Location: Beeston, Nottingham
Salary: £85 - £95 per day
Start Date: TBC

About the Role:

GSL SEN Education are seeking passionate SEN Teaching Assistant who is wanting to gain experience working with SEN children. We are working with a local mainstream primary school nearby to Beeston, who need staff on a weekly basis to cover any sicknesses/absences that may occur.

This role is on a day-to-day basis (Monday – Friday), due to the nature of the role you may receive a call on the day of work between 7am – 7:30am.

Key Responsibilities of a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant:

  • Build trusting relationships with students using a restorative approach.
  • Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
  • Help demonstrate the value of education to students.
  • Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
  • Working 1:1 with students offering extra support

Key Requirements of a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant:

  • Teaching Assistant Level 2 or equivalent
  • A sincere passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
  • The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
  • A genuine interest in understanding the challenges faced by young people with mental health and trauma issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Will have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service. – If you don’t already have a DBS, we can help you apply for one.
