Horizon Teachers are recruiting for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Merton, South London. You will support primary and secondary pupils with Autism and speech and language needs, helping them feel safe, included and confident.

Role involves 1:1 and small group support, adapting tasks for individual needs, and working closely with teachers and the SEND team. A passionate, patient approach is essential, with safeguarding training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEND in a school setting.
• Familiar with autism-friendly strategies and sensory needs.
• Desirable Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning.

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for long-term role in South London?

We’re looking for a passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Merton. The school works with primary and secondary pupils with needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Speech, language and communication difficulties, with a strong focus on helping each child feel safe, included, and confident.

Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant at this school:

• Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.

• Work closely with teachers and the SEND team.

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience working in a similar setting, or having worked closely with children with SEND.
• Knowledge of Autism-friendly strategies, sensory needs, and behaviour management approaches.
• Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential).
• A genuine interest in helping children grow in confidence and independence.
