Job description

Forest House School is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Education team now!

We are looking for versatile, resilient, and committed Teaching Assistants who can adapt their practice to support across all key stages. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher, assisting children with their work and supporting pupil behaviour, while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, and responding to individual needs.

Forest House School provides specialist education for young people aged 14-16 with autism, ADHD, PDA, and co-occurring mental health diagnoses. Pupils may also exhibit challenging behaviour due to communication difficulties and social understanding issues.

The essential skills for this role include:

  1. A good knowledge of autism with experience in an SEN setting, ideally with a similar age group on the autistic spectrum.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate engagingly with young people to maximise their learning.
  3. Highly organized and adaptable, with an enthusiastic and proactive approach.
  4. The desire to learn new skills and develop your role to build on your strengths.
  5. High levels of resilience and compassion.
  6. Ability to work well as part of a team and on own initiative.
  7. Knowledge of PBS and/or Team Teach approaches is desirable.

A full, clean driving licence is essential, as part of your role will involve transporting students on educational visits in the community.
