Job summary

Classroom Support are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated HLTA with a specialism in Physical Education to join a welcoming primary school in Greenwich. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality PE lessons across the school and help pupils develop physical skills, confidence and healthy lifestyles.

You will work closely with teachers to provide engaging, inclusive learning experiences and promote teamwork and positive attitudes towards activity.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in a primary school or educational setting.
  • Strong interest or qualification in PE, sport or physical activity.
  • Experience planning and delivering engaging activities or lessons.
  • Confident leading groups of children and managing behaviour.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about supporting children's development.
  • Ability to adapt activities to meet all pupils' needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver PE lessons across the primary age range.
  • Lead whole-class, small-group and individual PE sessions.
  • Support pupils' physical development, confidence and fitness.
  • Adapt activities for different abilities and needs.
  • Promote teamwork, resilience and positive attitudes to activity.
  • Support wider PE curriculum delivery.
  • Organise extracurricular sports activities and clubs when required.
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, breaks, activities and events.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff and leadership.
  • Follow safeguarding and health and safety policies.

Job description

Classroom Support are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a specialism in Physical Education (PE) to join a welcoming primary school in Greenwich.

The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering high-quality PE lessons across the school, supporting pupils to develop their physical skills, confidence, teamwork and understanding of healthy lifestyles. You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to ensure pupils receive engaging, inclusive and well-structured learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons and activities across the primary age range.
  • Lead whole-class, small-group and individual physical education sessions.
  • Support the development of pupils' physical skills, coordination, fitness and confidence.
  • Adapt activities to meet the needs of pupils with different abilities and additional needs.
  • Promote teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship and positive attitudes towards physical activity.
  • Support teachers with the delivery of the wider PE curriculum.
  • Organise and support extracurricular sports activities, clubs and school competitions where required.
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, break times, sports activities and school events.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and relevant school staff.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and school leadership.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.
