  • Encourage communication and language development alongside early literacy, using repetition, modelling and visual support where appropriate.
  • Adapt phonics and literacy activities to meet individual children's communication, sensory and developmental needs.
  • Use songs, rhymes, stories and practical activities to develop children's phonological awareness and enjoyment of language.
  • Support children with transitions, sensory needs, personal care and daily routines where required.
  • Work collaboratively with the EYFS Lead and other Teaching Assistants to provide a consistent and structured learning environment.
  • Encourage children's confidence, independence and engagement with learning through positive and nurturing support.
Who You Are:
  • Patient, nurturing, resilient and proactive.
  • Experienced supporting children with Autism (ASD), ideally within an EYFS, SEND or specialist setting.
  • Have a good understanding of early phonics, phonemic awareness and early reading development.
  • Confident supporting children with early literacy activities and reinforcing phonics taught by the class team.
  • Able to make learning engaging through songs, rhymes, stories, games and practical activities.
  • Confident working as part of a close-knit team and following guidance from senior staff.
  • Knowledge of visual supports and communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton or Attention Autism would be desirable.
  • Calm and consistent when supporting children who may experience communication, sensory or behavioural challenges.
  • Passionate about helping young children develop their communication, early reading skills and confidence as learners.
Why Apply?
