Job summary

Desian Education are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive EYFS team in a single-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port. You will work with Nursery and Reception pupils, supporting the class teacher with day-to-day activities and learning through play.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant in EYFS is desirable.
• Experience working with Nursery and Reception age groups is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour and create a safe learning environment.
• Support learning-through-play activities to develop skills.
• Promote social interaction, communication and fine motor development.
• Deliver small-group phonics and reading interventions when needed.
• Provide targeted support to pupils with additional needs.
• Collaborate with the school team to meet individual learning needs.
• Support pupils with EHCPs to access learning and develop independence.
• Use Makaton and PECS to support communication where required.
• Assist with personal and intimate care when required.

Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of an experienced and supportive EYFS team, working within a mixed Nursery and Reception class at a school with an excellent reputation across the local authority. Your New Role: As a Teaching Assistant, you will join an experienced EYFS cohort and work closely with the class teacher to support the learning, development and engagement of pupils across the Nursery and Reception age groups. Your role will be varied and rewarding, including:

• Supporting the class teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and creating a safe, nurturing learning environment.
• Supporting pupils through learning-through-play activities.
• Promoting social interaction, communication and fine motor development.
• Delivering small-group phonics and reading comprehension interventions to Reception pupils.
• Providing targeted support to pupils with additional needs.
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to meet individual learning needs.
• Supporting pupils with EHCPs to access learning and develop their independence.
• Using Makaton and PECS to support communication.
• Assisting with personal and intimate care where required.

Due to continued demand for additional classroom support, the school are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term temporary basis.
