SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant - Autism

Location: Leicester City

Type: Full-time Contract

Start Date: June 2025 (Temporary to Permanent)

About the Role

Career Teachers is partnering with an SEND School in Leicester to recruit a motivated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant. The role involves working 1:1 with students, primarily those with Autism, supporting their educational and behavioral needs.

School Environment

The school is well-resourced to support students with complex needs and fosters an inclusive, positive staff culture where everyone feels valued.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a positive role model and manage behavior effectively.
  • Create and maintain a safe, child-centered learning environment.
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance among pupils.
  • Understand and assist in implementing Individual Education Plans and Behavior Support Plans under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Support the class teacher with planning, monitoring, and delivering creative lessons.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Essential: SEN experience, preferably with students with Autism.
  • Previous support work within a school or child-related experience.
  • Strong behavior management skills.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and friendly approach.
  • Team Teach training is advantageous but not required.
