Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy for an exceptional Teaching Assistant to work with an experienced and highly motivated team of professionals.

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and talented professional to join and further reinforce our growing Inclusion and SEND provision team at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy. We welcome applications from candidates who have a passion for working with young people and families to improve life chances and opportunities. The skills needed include providing specialist support for young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and the drive to unlock barriers to learning, enabling young people to thrive and achieve their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to work closely with students across key stages 3 and 4, particularly those with specific learning needs or challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health or engagement issues. We are looking for someone with the personal qualities and attributes to support and inspire engagement in learning.

Sir Thomas Wharton Academy has a strong team of professionals delivering high-quality learning both inside and outside the classroom, working together to achieve our vision: ‘to deliver exceptional learning experiences that enable all young people to thrive in a competitive world and lead successful and fulfilling lives’. If you wish to contribute to this team and help drive standards and performance to the next level, we would like to hear from you.

The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Be committed to Maltby Learning Trust's Vision and Values and the Academy's Key Drivers.
  • Be a driven, proactive, and positive individual with an unwavering commitment to improving their own standards.
  • Have a true growth mindset, an exceptional work ethic, and a sense of humour.
  • Be a team player, working closely with other professionals and implementing effective strategies to ensure systems and processes are rigorously followed.
  • Hold high expectations of all learners and staff within the team.
  • Have experience working with students exhibiting challenging behaviours.
  • Be capable of engaging, inspiring, and building excellent relationships with students, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
  • Adapt to changing circumstances and embrace new ideas.
  • Assist in establishing an appropriate learning environment in collaboration with teachers.
  • Support the movement and handling of students with disabilities around the academy site.
  • Support students consistently, recognizing and responding to their individual needs.
  • Possess knowledge and experience of the context in which Sir Thomas Wharton Academy operates.
In Return We Offer
  • Excellent career development opportunities and access to personalized Professional Learning and Development (PLD) at leadership level.
  • An excellent induction program with dynamic, driven, and supportive staff.
  • Mentoring and support from an experienced team.
  • The potential to work across the age and ability range.
  • Dedicated office space that inspires outstanding performance.
  • An opportunity to work collaboratively within a multi-academy Trust.
