Job summary

SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL is seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support learning across the primary phase. You will work under the guidance of teaching staff to help manage pupils, including those with Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs), and provide 1:1 support for SEND pupils.

The role may involve work inside or outside the classroom and requires flexibility and teamwork to contribute to a caring and inclusive school environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
• Flexibility to work across the whole primary phase and focus on 1:1 work with SEND pupils.
• Demonstrates high expectations and a drive to achieve the best outcomes.
• Works well as part of a caring, sharing team.

Responsibilities

• Support access to learning for pupils under supervision.
• Assist the teacher in managing pupils and classroom activities.
• Work with pupils in and out of the classroom as required, including EHCP-related needs.

Job description

Working under the guidance of the teaching staff and nominated teaching assistants and within an agreed system of supervision, to support access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom, including support for individual Education Health Care Plans (EHCP's). This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas, and those who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning. Work with pupils will be carried out in or out of the classroom.
