Job description

Teaching Assistant – £20,906.25 per year, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

Our New Acorn School, Avonside School in Bristol, will have capacity for 72 pupils and is due to open August 2025. The school will be a co-educational provision for pupils with complex needs including SEMH.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher/tutor to:
    • Ensure the delivery of high-quality education for all students
    • Implement all relevant education policies and procedures
    • Organise the classroom, resources, student groupings, and displays to provide a stimulating learning environment for students with autistic spectrum disorder
    • Write, update, implement, and evaluate documentation related to individual students
  • Provide relevant and appropriate support to students
  • Promote the physical, educational, and moral development of students
  • Ensure equipment and resources are used, stored, and maintained efficiently
  • Collaborate with the class teacher/tutor to plan and ensure student safety, in line with risk assessments, both on and off-site
  • Create effective teaching aids and resources as requested by the class teacher/tutor
  • Contribute to the school’s multi-professional team, fostering good working relationships with colleagues
