Are you passionate about nurturing the mental health and well-being of children and young people?
Do you have a valid driver's license and experience in supporting individuals who face challenges in forming social and emotional connections?
We are seeking dedicated teaching assistants to support SEMH pupils on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis in schools located in the St George and Kingswood areas of Bristol. Recent focus has been on supporting pupils impacted by adverse childhood experiences.
As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include supporting pupils within the educational setting and organizing activities outside the classroom. The school facilitates community outings for students, with mileage covered for these journeys. You will collaborate with other staff members, including mentors and teachers, to ensure appropriate support for the students.
This full-time position offers comprehensive support and guidance, with opportunities for additional training such as Team Teach and Trauma Informed Training. Working hours are 8.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
It is essential that you can drive, have access to your own vehicle, and possess business insurance, as you will be responsible for transporting students to and from their homes daily. Mileage will be reimbursed.
This role is suitable for individuals with experience supporting pupils in schools or alternative settings, including those with SEMH needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds. We also consider candidates from similar backgrounds who can relate to the children's experiences and help guide them positively.
The role involves working with high-needs pupils, including Year 10 and Year 11 students with EHCPs, in an alternative provision school supporting around 40 pupils requiring intensive support due to high-risk backgrounds. The environment is trauma-informed and demands resilience and dedication from teaching assistants.
Candidates should be resilient, quick to build relationships, and capable of managing challenging behavior professionally and calmly.
